Sign up with a supported fiscal host (like Open Collective), then go to GitHub Sponsors → Payouts, select “Change payout method,” and link your fiscal host account. Confirm all details, review fees and processing times, and ensure your tax information is accurate. |

Yeah, this part is confusing because changing payout methods for GitHub Sponsors is not something you can do directly from the dashboard. If you originally set up payouts using Stripe Connect and later want to switch to a fiscal host, GitHub has to make that change manually on their side. In your case there is another important factor: Stripe accounts usually require the account holder to meet age and identity verification requirements. Because of that, younger developers often use a fiscal host to receive funds legally. What you need to do is contact GitHub Support and request the switch. There is no self service option in the portal. When contacting support, include: • your GitHub username GitHub will guide you through the process and confirm eligibility. Also note that fiscal hosts must be part of the GitHub Sponsors program and may have their own onboarding steps. So nothing is wrong with your account. The change just requires support to enable it manually. Hope this helps clear it up 🙂 |
